City Projects

These are key projects that are taking place in the city of Clearwater. All construction dates that are listed can change based on weather, conditions, or contractor delays.

Beach by Design

This special area plan sets forth a series of strategies for the revitalization of Clearwater Beach in six major areas: land use, mobility, off-street parking, catalytic projects, economic feasibility and financing, and design guidelines.

Clearwater Beach Marina Replacement Construction Project

Construction is underway now and includes two phases of construction. Phase 1 of the construction project has been broken into part A and part B due to damage to the fuel dock that will be undergoing repairs. The first phase includes the complete demolition and rebuild of the west side of the marina.

Cleveland Street Streetscape Phase III and Mercado

Construction on the Cleveland Street Streetscape project is substantially complete, and construction on the Mercado, a new public gathering space, is underway.

Courtney Campbell Causeway Pedestrian Overpass

This is a project by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). This project will build a pedestrian/ bicycle overpass over SR 60 (Gulf to Bay Blvd) east of Bayshore Blvd, connecting the Bayshore trail and the Courtney Campbell trail in eastern Pinellas County.

Edgewater Drive Park

Edgewater Drive Park is currently a passive park with limited functionality and use. The park will undergo refurbishment and to include a new pier, expanded parking lot, improved stormwater management, new sidewalks, new bike racks, trash receptacles, benches, environmental educational signage, and an ADA accessible drinking fountain.

Fire Station 47 Construction Project

Fire Station 47, located at 1460 Lakeview Rd., was built in the early 70’s. Due to the structure’s age, the station does not meet current best practices and standards and is being replaced.

Forest Run Park

Located in the Countryside area, Forest Run Park is known for its natural and cool shade, lighted tennis courts, hand ball/racquet ball courts, basketball courts and playground with a unique rock wall.

New City Hall Construction Project

The city of Clearwater's new City Hall is currently under construction and renovations are underway to update and improve the Municipal Services Building.

Northeast Water Reclamation Facility Improvements

This project consists of modifications and improvements to preliminary and primary treatment systems, sludge handling for digestion and dewatering, and installation of a new equalization tank.

Northeast Water Reclamation Facility Odor Issues

The city of Clearwater has received complaints about an odor-control issue at the Northeast Water Reclamation Facility. Crews from Clearwater Public Utilities are aware of the issue, and we are taking steps that should fix the problem within a few weeks. The long-term fix will take longer, however, and we don't expect the odors to be a problem after the end of January 2025.

Soule Road Park

Park with an exercise course, trails, picnic areas, a playground, and a tennis courts and pickleball courts.

SR 590 (Drew Street) Repaving from Osceola Avenue to US 19

This project will repave Drew Street between Osceola Avenue and US 19 in Pinellas County. The area between Osceola and Keene will be restriped to create a two-lane roadway with wider sidewalks and bike lanes. The project is currently in the design phase. Construction is anticipated to begin in summer 2026.

US 19 Zoning District & Corridor Plan

The city of Clearwater has developed zoning standards to create a thriving and prosperous corridor along the city’s seven-mile stretch of US 19 and its major cross streets.
