The Clearwater Public Library System welcomes and encourages members of the community to contribute their time, talents and knowledge to become one of our many valued volunteers. Our volunteer program helps us provide the best possible service to the public by enriching and expanding library services.
We encourage volunteer participation at all the library branches. Volunteers are retirees, professionals, homemakers, students, part-time residents, and men and women of all backgrounds who live in surrounding communities. The volunteer program, through the dedication and commitment of our volunteers, allows the library to meet the challenges and needs of our large population of library users.
Volunteers generally provide support services to staff or work on special projects with staff. Positions are designed to match volunteers' skills, interests and schedule.
Assignments may change and openings may vary; however, the time commitment required for most positions is 1 to 3 hours per week.

Once we receive your completed application, we run a final background check. This process may take one to two weeks. We'll contact you as soon as you are accepted or if there are any problems with your paperwork.
If there are current openings for new volunteers, you will be contacted by the library location to which you applied.
If there are no current openings for new volunteers, you will be put on the library location's teen volunteer waiting list and contacted when an opening becomes available.
Don't forget if you are completing service learning hours for educational purposes, it is your responsibility to make sure that your guidance counselor or school representative has approved your volunteer assignment. It is also your responsibility to make sure that all paperwork involved is properly tracked, signed, and submitted. If you need assistance, please contact either your school representative or the appropriate Teen Volunteer Coordinator.
