Pinellas County to Host Free Tire Disposal Event April 19
Next date: Saturday, April 19, 2025 | 09:00 AM
to 01:00 PM
Pinellas County is hosting a free tire collection event for residents on Saturday, April 19, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at three locations throughout the county.
Pinellas County Mosquito Control and Pinellas County Solid Waste are partnering to host the countywide event in a continued effort to reduce the spread of mosquitoes and mosquito-borne illnesses. Waste tires left in the environment collect water where mosquitoes breed. One scrap tire can lead to the breeding of thousands of mosquitoes over a single season.
Tires will be collected at the following locations:
This event is for Pinellas County residents only; a government-issued ID will be required to verify residency. No business drop-offs will be accepted. County residents can bring up to 12 tires, 36 inches or less in diameter. Tires with rims will not be accepted.
Tires collected at the event will be processed through Pinellas County Solid Waste’s Waste-to-Energy facility, which generates enough electricity to power about 45,000 homes a day. Metal from the tires will be recovered from the remaining ash and recycled.
For more information about the event or about mosquitoes in Pinellas County, residents can call Pinellas County Mosquito Control at (727) 464-7503 or visit pinellas.gov/mosquito.
Residents who cannot attend the event can use the Where Does It Go? Search Tool at Pinellas.gov/where to find year-round disposal options for their tires.
