The Final Weekend of the Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival Is Here

Enjoy Fireworks, Salsa and Bachata at Sunset, Free Beach Concerts, the Ferris Wheel, and More

As the Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival presented by Visit St. Pete Clearwater enters its final weekend, the excitement and entertainment continue. Along with the amazing Sugar Sand Art Exhibit featuring elaborate sand sculptures depicting “DinoShores: A Pre-historic Adventure in Sand,” the festival hosts a wide variety of fantastic events for the whole family this weekend, until the festival ends at 9 p.m. Sunday, April 27.

This weekend is filled with live music, all part of the Frenchy’s Free Beach Concerts series and the Spritz Society Stage:

  • Thursday, April 24: Tony Rook (noon-4 p.m.) and ELEMENT (4:30-8:30 p.m.)
  • Friday, April 25: DJ Jermaine Kearse (noon-3 p.m.), Zachariah Evans (3-7:30 p.m.), and Stereo FM (8 p.m.)
  • Saturday, April 26: Chris McCary (noon-4 p.m.), VIBEz Party Duo (4:30-7:30 p.m.), and TL Jentgens (8 p.m.), followed by fireworks at 9:30 p.m.
  • Sunday, April 27: Salsa and Bachata (1 p.m.) and Orquesta INFINIDAD (6 p.m.).

Experience an amazing day of Salsa and Bachata right on Clearwater Beach, Sunday, April 27:

  • 1 p.m.: Enjoy live music with Paula Sofia.
  • 2 p.m.: DJ Mike Sensation keeps the energy going on stage.
  • 4:30 p.m.: Join in for Salsa and Bachata dance lessons.
  • 5:15 p.m.: Be captivated by professional dance performances from Iroko Dance Academy and Kura Dance Project by Amy Dominguez.
  • 6 p.m.: Free Beach Concert featuring Orquesta INFINIDAD

Other fun activities include:

  • Join us for our annual Sugar Sand Festival beach cleanup, from 5-7 p.m. Friday, April 25.
  • Enjoy free beach yoga from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, April 26.
  • Take a drive down memory lane and check out some amazing vintage rides at the Classic VW Car Show, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26.
  • Timeless Tuesday is April 22. Attendees age 60 and older get a $2 discount, making tickets only $12 per person, plus tax. Tickets must be purchased onsite with proper identification.
  • Frontline Friday is April 25. All police, fire, military, teachers and healthcare workers will receive a discounted general admission ticket to the Sugar Sand Walk Exhibit for $10 plus tax. Tickets must be purchased onsite with proper identification.
  • Free fireworks presented by Spectrum light up the night on Clearwater Beach this Saturday, April 26, at 9:30 p.m.
  • Free sand-sculpting classes are on Friday at 2 p.m. and Saturday at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
  • Clearwater Gas speed sand demonstrations happen Saturday and Sunday at 4 p.m.
  • Ride the ferris wheel Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. or Sunday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Cost is $8, and other amusements range from $3 to $10.
  • The BayStar VIP Lounge opens at 5 p.m. Friday to Sunday until close.
  • The Tropico/Hyatt Sand Bar will be open Friday (noon-10 p.m.), Saturday (11 a.m.-10 p.m.), and Sunday (11 a.m.-9 p.m.).

The rest of the weekend will feature an interactive art installation, a kid’s play zone, street-performers, artisans, Sunsets at Pier 60 Park daily festivals and more.

Buy your tickets online to skip the line. General admission tickets are $14 plus tax, and Baystar VIP Lounge tickets are $70 plus tax, all available at SugarSandFestival.com. Children age 3 and younger are free. Tickets will stop being sold at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, April 27. The festival is cashless and contactless. Accepted forms of payment include all major credit cards, Google Pay and Apple Pay.

Festivalgoers should consider using the free PSTA Park & Ride trolley service to get to and from Clearwater Beach. Park downtown for free any day of the week, and hop on board the Jolley Trolley to get to and from the beach. For Park & Ride details, visit PSTA.net/SpringBreak. Visitors can also get to and from the beach via the Clearwater Ferry for a small fee.

After the festival is over at 9 p.m. Sunday, April 27, the sand sculptures will be knocked down, and the sand will be returned to its original resting place. (This process can be dangerous and is closed to the media and general public.)

Seventeen world-class artists craft elaborate sand sculptures from Clearwater’s internationally famous sugar sand. The works of art are on display in a 24,000-square-foot structure. More than 1,000 tons of Clearwater sand takes on a new life, bringing visitors on a unique adventure.
