Municipal Electric Utility Study Clearwater’s 30-year electric franchise with Duke Energy is ending. The city can either municipalize electricity, joining 33 Florida cities that run their own utilities, or negotiate a new franchise. Investor-owned utilities have historically served the area under PSC-granted monopolies and customizable local agreements.
Clearwater Beach Marina Replacement Construction Project The construction project includes two phases, and it is expected to be fully completed in July 2026. Most of Phase 1 of the project has been completed, which included the demolition and rebuilding of the west side of the marina.
