The city of Clearwater receives an annual allocation of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development. The city primarily uses these funds to provide grant funding to support non-profit organizations that provide public services to the benefit of Clearwater’s low-income residents. A portion of the funds can be used to directly support the operation of these public service programs. Funds can also be used to make improvements to the facilities where these services are delivered.

The distribution of CDBG funds to non-profits serving residents within Clearwater's city limits is determined through an annual grant application process that serves as the basis for creating the city’s Annual Action Plan. The application process for the annual grant cycle begins in January/February and concludes at the beginning of the city’s fiscal year which is October 1. If you are associated with a non-profit organization and you are interested in this program, please feel free to contact Irin Gomez, Housing Coordinator, at (727) 444-7164.
