After-Hours Media Inquiries

Members of the news media who anticipate needing information or assistance outside regular business hours should email media@myclearwater.com to request the after-hours contacts.

For after-hours media inquiries, please leave a detailed voicemail or send a text message that includes your name, news organization, deadline and the information you are requesting.

We want to provide the accurate information and resources you need to report your story. When contacting us regarding a media inquiry, please include:

• Your name and news organization
• Your telephone number and email address
• Your deadline
• Whether you are requesting an interview (in-person or virtual)

Providing this information at the beginning helps our team identify the right subject-matter expert and respond efficiently. After-hours media contacts are exclusively for working journalists with urgent, deadline-driven news inquiries. The line is not for resident questions, service requests, utility concerns or emergencies. Residents experiencing an emergency should call 911.

About the City of Clearwater Government

Clearwater operates under a council-manager form of government. The Clearwater City Council consists of the mayor and four councilmembers. All five members are elected at large, meaning they are elected citywide and represent Clearwater as a whole. Clearwater does not have geographic council districts. The city manager is the city’s chief administrative officer and is responsible for managing Clearwater’s daily operations.

Although Clearwater is the Pinellas County seat, the City of Clearwater and Pinellas County Government are separate government organizations. A Clearwater mailing address also does not necessarily mean a property is within Clearwater city limits. Visit the Pinellas County Property Appraiser's Office to confirm whether an address falls within the city’s jurisdiction. Properties located in Clearwater will have a "CW" marking under taxing district.

Other Government and Community Agencies

Some organizations serving Clearwater or the surrounding area are independent of city government. School district, court, county, state, federal and independent agency inquiries should be directed to the organization responsible for that service.
