Open Book Policy is a vibrant and meaningful mural that now graces the front of the North Greenwood Library. Requested by library staff for many years, the piece was thoughtfully designed in collaboration with the artist, incorporating elements that reflect both local history and community pride.

The mural includes tributes to Clearwater’s first African American librarian, Ms. Christine Wigfall Morris, as well as quotes from Frederick Douglass and a nod to the library’s own NASA Ambassador, David Stoner. Multiple “easter eggs” are hidden throughout the artwork—visitors are encouraged to step inside the library and ask for a scavenger hunt worksheet to discover all the details.

Bringing color and vibrancy to the area, the mural celebrates the idea that a library is so much more than just books—it is a place of inspiration, learning, and connection.
