A Clearwater recreation card provides access to all of Clearwater's premier recreation centers, pools, athletic facilities and other recreational programs at a reduced rate or for free. By purchasing a recreation card, you can not only improve your physical health and well-being by staying active, but also engage in social activities and meet new people who share similar interests.

Recreation cards can be used at Clearwater recreation facilities such as Clearwater Beach Recreation Center, Countryside Recreation Center, The Long Center, Morningside Recreation Center, North Greenwood Recreation Center and Ross Norton Recreation Center. 

Recreation cards are available to residents and non-residents and must be applied for annually in person at a recreation center. Recreation cards do not auto-renew.

Get a Recreation Card

Step 1.Determine if you are a resident or non-resident.

Find out if you live in incorporated Clearwater, unincorporated Clearwater or Pinellas County by typing in your address on the Pinellas County property appraiser's website. If you live in incorporated Clearwater, the box showing "Current Tax District" will show "CW" for Clearwater. Programs that typically reach capacity will have registration procedures that give Clearwater residents priority.

Step 2.Gather two proofs of residency.

If you would like to apply for a resident card, you will need to provide two proofs of residency. Proof of residency can be any of the two (2) original document types listed below. Photocopies or screenshots are not acceptable.

  • A current State of Florida photo identification card or current vehicle registration.
  • A current, original voter identification card showing the City as "CW".
  • Any original utility bill less than 90 days old that shows applicant’s name and a city of Clearwater residential address as the service address. "Utility" includes electric, telephone, water, and/or cable bills.
  • A current year, original, property tax bill (or notice) in your name showing a city of Clearwater property address.
  • An original notarized or registered deed, mortgage or lease showing your name as the owner or occupant at that city of Clearwater address.
  • An original notarized statement from an adult relative that you are a full-time resident in the home and any other two proofs listed above showing that home has a city of Clearwater address.

For a family recreation card, two individuals with a Marriage License or a Registered Domestic Partnership with the city of Clearwater or Pinellas County, Florida, or a legal guardian and their children who live in the same household, who are 18 years of age or under, or less than 23 years of age and a full-time college student. Verification of any age or family status may be required. For proof of dependency, a birth certificate or other proof of dependency may be required.

Step 3.Go to your recreation center of choice.

Go to any Clearwater recreation center to fill out and turn in an application. You may also download, print and fill out a recreation card application(PDF, 182KB) ahead of time and bring it to a recreation center.

Step 4.Choose your recreation card type.

The city offers a variety of recreation card choices such as an annual individual recreation card, annual family recreation card, Long Center youth card, McMullen Tennis court add-on, non-resident disabled veteran discount, non-resident youth co-sponsor card, or PLUS add-on. 

Step 5.Pay the appropriate registration fee.

The Clearwater Parks & Recreation Department accepts credit cards, debit cards (MasterCard and Visa), and checks. The Clearwater Parks & Recreation Department does not accept cash as payment.

Refund Policy

All refund requests are subject to administrative approval. Allow four to six weeks for refunds to be processed.

Recreation Programs or Activities Refunds

Requests for refunds must be received in writing 10 business days before the start of the program. A $10 processing fee will be charged, or you can receive a 100% credit toward another program. No refunds will be issued after the program begins, except for documented medical reasons.

Recreation Cards/Refunds

Recreation cards will not be refunded after 10 business days from the date of issue. Requests for refunds must be submitted in writing with the card attached. A $10 processing fee will be deducted from all refunds.

Open Swim Refunds

If the city must close a pool unexpectedly, participants who have been at the facility for less than an hour may be given a rain check for another visit.

Recreation Card or Plus Pass holders may bring a guest to any of the recreation centers or programs. The guest will only be charged with-card rates for drop-in programs or classes. A guest is defined as a person staying in the home of a recreation cardholder.

McMullen Tennis Court Add-On

Individual Dues: $40 a month.

Monthly dues allow Recreation Card PLUS holders to receive seven day advance court reservations, one free 2-hour court reservation per day and priority admission to special events.

All recreation centers accept SilverSneakers, Silver & Fit, Active & Fit, Renew Active, One Pass and Tivity Prime. Eligible members receive an Individual Recreation Card providing free access to the recreation amenities that are not instructor-led, i.e., fitness centers, pools, and gymnasiums during hours of operation. Exclusions and restrictions may apply.

SilverSneakers members receive free access to one SilverSneakers Signature class daily. The recreation card may be used at McMullen Tennis Complex and additional fees apply (excluding Tivity Prime members.)
