Councilmember David Allbritton was born and raised in Clearwater and has enjoyed raising a family, building a business and being a homeowner since 1972. He has been married for more than47years to his wife, Maryhelen, who is a retired school guidance counselor. He is a proud father to three grown children - David, John and Jennifer - and has three granddaughters, Lauren, Charlotte and Josephine, two grandsons Harrison and Owen, great-granddaughter Thea, and great-grandson Portland.
Allbritton graduated from Clearwater High School in 1969 and went on to attend North Carolina Wesleyan College in North Carolina. He returned to Clearwater to start a long successful building career, having spent 36 years as a state-certified Building Contractor. Allbritton served on the Board of N.A.R.I (National Association of the Remodeling Industry), twice winning the “Contractor of the Year” award for remodeling projects in Clearwater.
Allbritton has spent more than two decades of civic and public service in Clearwater. He was appointed to the Code Enforcement Board in 1997, and then he was elected to the Downtown Development Board, having served seven years as its chairman. Allbritton served on the Clearwater Business Task Force, Charter Review Committee and the Community Development Board. He is past-president of the Clearwater Historical Society, is the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority and Forward Pinellas representative for Clearwater.
He won his seat in the 2018 election by a margin of 67 percent of the vote and is dedicated to making Clearwater the best place to live, work and play. Allbritton enjoys spending time with his kids and grandchildren and enjoys playing guitar in his local band and in his church. Other hobbies include boating, distance swimming and biking.
