Journey of the Hummingbird by Edgar Islas Cruz

A vibrant new public art mural titled “Journey of the Hummingbird,” by Mexican artist Edgar Islas Cruz, also known as Tutubixi, now graces a prominent wall at Coachman Park in Clearwater. The mural celebrates the city’s cultural ties with its sister city, Ixmiquilpan, Mexico, and reflects themes of migration, connection and cultural exchange through bold colors and dynamic imagery that draw on the hummingbird as a symbol of resilience and movement. Installed as part of the City of Clearwater’s Public Art and Design Program, the work was created through an artist exchange in partnership with Unimex, spotlighting international artistic collaboration and community engagement in this waterfront park space.
